Bio pioneer

As a company with a tradition stretching back over 170 years, we pass on our knowledge from generation to generation. In 1987, for example, we were the first chocolate company to start producing organic and Fairtrade chocolate. This milestone illustrates our long-standing commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility. We are committed to publishing our activities in a Sustainability Report certified according to GRI standards.

To strengthen supply chain transparency, Maestrani has developed a Single Origin chocolate range using cocoa sourced exclusively from Sierra Leone. Distributed in the German market through our retail partner, the range demonstrates how transparent and fully traceable cocoa supply chains can be successfully implemented. The cocoa is Fairtrade, EU Organic and Naturland certified, with complete traceability back to the individual cocoa farmers. It is sourced exclusively from the Kasiyatama and Salmed cooperatives in the Kono District, Sierra Leone.
